Etter å ha blitt dømt for medvirkning til ran må 15 år gamle Noah flytte fra Haugenstua i Groruddalen, hvor han har vokst opp sammen med sin mor, til sin far på Bekkestua i Bærum. Filmskaper Jon Haukeland har fulgt Noah og kameratene på Haugenstua siden 2013, og skildrer deres sterke bånd til hjemstedet, lokalmiljøet og hverandre på en måte som gjør det lett for publikum å leve seg inn i hovedpersonens indre kvaler.

Ved hjelp av observerende opptak og velspilte rekonstruksjoner har Haukeland laget en vakker og ettertenksom film om å slites mellom ulike definisjoner av lojalitet, ambisjoner og egen identitet. Filmen vant prisen for årets beste norske dokumentarfilm på Bergen internasjonale filmfestival 2016, ble nominert til Amanda for beste klipp, ble nominert til to Kanonpriser - og vant en av dem.

After being convicted of complicity in robbery, 15-year-old Noah must move from Haugenstua in Groruddalen, where he has grown up with his mother, to his father at Bekkestua in Bærum. Filmmaker Jon Haukeland has been following Noah and his friends at Haugenstua since 2013, and portrays their strong ties to the home, local community and each other in a way that makes it easy for the audience to immerse themselves in the main character's inner trumoil.

With the help of an observing filming style mixed with well-played reconstructions, Haukeland has made a beautiful and thoughtful film about feeling torn between different definitions of loyalty, ambition and an identity of one’s own. The film won the award for best Norwegian documentary film at Bergen International Film Festival 2016, was nominated for Amanda for best editing, was nominated for two Kanon prizes - and won one of them.

evige jaktmarker / eternal hunting grounds

Cut out animasjon laget på et multi-plan glassbord

To barn på en liten øy spiller et viktig spill. De tar døden ut av verden. Barna leter nøysomt under steiner, på stranden, i gjørmen og på jordene etter døde dyr. Dyrene blir tatt til barnas egen private kirkegård. Her begraver barna dyrene, pynter graven, synger sanger og resiterer dikt. Ved å begrave dyrene, blir dyrenes liv fornyet. De våkner opp i de vakre, dynamiske "Evige Jaktmarker".

Cut-out animation on a multi-level glass table

Two children on a small island play an important game. They take death out of the world. The children search intensively under stones, on the beach, in the mud and in the fields for dead animals. The animals are taken to the children’s own private graveyard. Here the  children bury the animals, decorate the graves, sing songs and recite poems. By burying the animals, the animals lives are renewed. They wake up in the beautiful, dynamic “The Eternal hunting grounds”.
